Rumpke began back in the 1930s, where young brothers Bill Rumpke and Barney Rumpke ran a small farm on the outskirts of Cincinnati. Their successful operation soon expanded to 80 acres in Colerain Township. The Rumpke's soon realized that their community needed organized waste hauling to handle the growing needs of families and farms like theirs. So the brothers bought a truck...and that was only the beginning.

Today, Rumpke Consolidated Companies, Inc. is among the nation's largest waste collection, hauling, disposal and recycling companies. The Rumpke's Colerain farm is now the 440-acre Rumpke Sanitary Landfill.
